While it might not be the first place that comes to mind when you think of bubbly, Hungary produce high quality sparkling wines worth noticing. Look into:
Kreinbacher – visit site
The Kreinbacher Estate was founded by József Kreinbacher who acquired the first vineyards at Somló in 2002. Christian Forget, a cellar master from Champagne, guides the team on all the nuances of Méthode Traditionnelle.
Törley – visit site
József TÖRLEY founded a vineyard in Hungary in 1882 when he discovered the soil and climate were great for growing sparkling wine like Champagne. In the 1910’s, the winery had become huge, reaching an output of 2 million bottles. Nowadays they produce close to 12-14 million bottles a year and hold almost 50% domestic market share as Hungary’s leading sparkling wine.

Taschner – visit site
Kurt Taschner owns one of the leading wineries of the Hungarian region around Sopron, close lake Neusiedler. The winery is a family affair, with knowledge passed down through generations. Taschner own 20 hectares of vineyards.
