Interview With Kristyna Weston – Founder Of Prosecco World
9th May 2024
On a mission to showcase the range of Prosecco, from DOC to DOCG and Valdobbiadene, Asolo to Cartizze, not all Prosecco is equal, and there’s a lot to explore, that’s why we at Glass of Bubbly interviewed Kristyna Weston, founder of Prosecco World, Kristyna has a background in marketing, logistics and sales, and decided to build her business around a product she’s truly passionate about, helping everyone discover the vast world of Prosecco.
Let’s delve in, discover how Prosecco World was founded, some great food pairing recommendations, the perfect bottle of Prosecco for your wedding and an incredible moment with a Glass of Bubbly.
It’s Lovely To Speak With You Kristyna, Before We Start Exploring Your Incredible Range Of Award Winning Prosecco, Can You Share With Us A Little About Yourself And How You Launched The Prosecco World Brand?
“I have always been intrigued by Italy, which led me to study Italian from a young age. My passion for Prosecco came a bit later while I was studying International Business and Marketing in Verona and only grew once I started my early career and was traveling around the country regularly. When I eventually moved to England, I was disappointed by the lack of high-quality Prosecco brands available. I was quite surprised and started to look into it, which led me to discover that only a small percentage of Prosecco Superiore DOCG was imported annually. This realization inspired me to launch Prosecco World a platform dedicated to spreading fizzy happiness through premium Prosecco Superiore DOCG from niche family Italian vineyards. Our focus is on sustainable and family-owned brands, ensuring that these amazing family producers receive the recognition they deserve.”
For Anyone Exploring Prosecco World For The First Time, What Label Would You Suggest They Try First?
“If you’re new to exploring the world of Prosecco, I would recommend starting with our Prosecco Nebbia label. As a Superiore di Rive, Prosecco Nebbia is among the most premium Prosecco options available. It hails from the prestigious ‘Rive’ territory, known for its specific vineyards where grapes are produced in lower quantities and harvested by hand. Prosecco Nebbia has become a bestseller for us, not only because it’s a personal favorite of my husband’s, but also due to its refreshing acidity and delightful notes of green apple, and citrus, with a floral element as well. It’s an easily drinkable variety and comes in a statement bottle that offers the complete Prosecco experience.
For anybody who is at the beginning of their Prosecco journey, I would recommend booking our private Prosecco tasting for the next dinner with friends or our Prosecco Tasting bundle which allows you to explore 6 different types of Prosecco and find the best one for your palate.”
When It Comes To Pairing Prosecco With Food, Do You Have Any Favourite Combinations That You Would Personally Recommend?
“When it comes to pairing Prosecco with food, I‘m a strong advocate for exploring the incredible range of Prosecco varieties to find the perfect match. While the UK market may not traditionally associate Prosecco with food pairing, it can complement a wide variety of dishes beyond appetizers and charcuterie.
One of my personal favorite combinations, for example, is pairing Prosecco Springo Green with pizza. Despite its simplicity, the Prosecco Col Fondo adds a delightful and sophisticated element to the pizza experience, all while being budget-friendly. This Prosecco also pairs well with seafood and crudité, as it’s a very dry, mineral option, which makes it very refreshing.
For those craving spicy Asian flavors, I recommend pairing Prosecco Superiore 20.10 Extra Dry. Its crisp, balanced profile complements the complexity of spicy dishes, enhances the flavors of both the Prosecco and the dish and a little sweetness really pairs well.”
You Got Married Last Year. For Anyone Planning Their Big Day, Which One Of Your Labels Would You Put Forward For That Very Special Moment?
“When it comes to selecting the perfect glass of Prosecco for a wedding, it’s important to consider the role of Prosecco in the celebration. For a welcome drink and toast, I would recommend the Prosecco Superiore 20.10 Brut This delightful Prosecco is a blend of Glera, Chardonnay, and Pinot Bianco, adding a special touch to the occasion. The elegant bottle presentation of this Prosecco is ideal for such a special moment on the big day.
If you’re planning to serve Prosecco during the Wedding Breakfast and pair it with different courses, I recommend choosing bottles of Prosecco that not only complement the menu but also match the color theme of the wedding. For example, Springo Bronze pairs beautifully with the Pantone color of the year 2024, Peach Fuzz. Every detail counts when it comes to these special memories.”
Where’s The Most Memorable Place You’ve Enjoyed A Glass of Bubbly?
“The most memorable place I’ve savored a glass of Prosecco is in the Conegliano Valdobbiadene region, the heart of Prosecco production. There’s something truly special about enjoying a glass of high-quality Prosecco while overlooking the picturesque hills of Conegliano Valdobbiadene. Despite being a person who typically enjoys the sea, the magic of the Prosecco hills, which are a UNESCO heritage site for good reason, creates an unforgettable experience.
What makes it even better is that this enchanting location is just a short journey from London, less than 3 hours away. Hop on a plane to Venice and immerse yourself in the wonderful world of Prosecco in Conegliano Valdobbiadene.”
Thank you, Kristyna, for sharing your words, knowledge and experiences with us and we at Glass of Bubbly wish you the very best for the future!
