Jockey Club Catering unveils ‘Best of British’ wine selection
9th November 2015
In celebration of the new National Hunt season, Jockey Club Catering has unveiled its new wine list. Available across 15 Jockey Club Racecourses, the 40 bottle main list will feature wines from some of the world’s finest vineyards including, for the first time, three wines from England as part of Jockey Club’s ‘Best of British’ range.
With over 200 wine producers in the UK, there’s never been a better time to try their wines and with England producing some of the world’s best sparkling wines to rival those from the Champagne region, Jockey Club Catering will be featuring the award winning Nyetimber Classic Cuvée 2010.
The pioneer in English sparkling wine, Nyetimber Classic Cuvée 2010 delivers all the elegance and refinement that would be expected, showing delicate citrus, fresh mineral, and lifted white blossom notes. The wine can be enjoyed on its own or with canapés.
The ‘Best of British’ selection will also feature the Bolney Estate Foxhole Vineyard Pinot Gris 2014 and Chapel Down English Rosé 2014.
Neil Phillips, The Wine Tipster and wine consultant for Jockey Club Catering, comments: “These are, quite rightly, exciting times for British wine with excellent quality leading to an increase in interest and demand. All three wines chosen have their own unique style, which we have complemented with excellent food pairings so race goers can enjoy them to their fullest.”
Nick Campbell, managing director of Jockey Club Catering, adds: “It is an absolute pleasure to announce that race goers will have the opportunity to experience our ‘Best of British’ range for the first time and we are confident that the wines will prove to be a huge success.”
Jockey Club Catering is a joint venture between The Jockey Club, the largest commercial group in British racing, and Compass Group UK & Ireland. The partnership was launched in 2009 with the aim of providing premium quality catering at all 15 of The Jockey Club racecourses. In 2013, the exclusive business relationship was extended until 2025.
