Krug launches latest vintage: Clos D'Ambonnay 2000

Clos D’Ambonnay 2000 is Krug’s rarest vintage yet. It is harvested from a tiny walled plot of Pinot Noir grapes, measuring only .68 hectares situated on the edge of the village of Ambonnay, which is located on the south-eastern slope of the Montagne de Reims.

The vintage is only the fourth Champagne from this terroir; previous vintages released were 1998, 1996 and 1995.

As with all Krug champagnes each of the limited 5,158 bottles are individually numbered with a six-digit ID.

Straw-gold in colour.
Aromas of brioche, caramel and spices.
Rich flavours of tarte tatin, caramel and pastry cream, with a long and slightly lemony finish.

The Clos D’Ambonnay 2000 pairs well with meat such as spiced lamb tajines and also sweet and sour dishes.
