Montpellier Wine Estate

The Montpellier Wine Estate is a South African winery steeped in history and heritage. It was founded in 1714 by two Frenchmen from the city of Montpellier in the south of France and has recently celebrated it’s 300th anniversary.

The Tulbagh valley is surrounded by Mountains on 3 sides and add to a very unique climate and terroir. The winery also acts serves as a tranquil getaway and stunning event venue. Its charming hillside chapel, reception facilities and breathtaking surroundings make it a beautiful and relaxing place to visit. We are situated in the Tulbagh region of the Western-Cape in South-Africa.

Currently we produce 2 MCC in the form of a MCC Brut (Chardonnay 54%/ Pinot Noir 46%) and a MCC Rose (100% Pinot Noir). We will be releasing a third MCC in December! The third will be a MCC Brut(100% Chardonnay).

All our grapes are grown on our own farm where the wine is produced as well. We have lots of old vineyards on the farm that still produce grapes. Our Gewurztraminer vines for example are more than 40 years old! Older vines I believe add a certain edge to our wine and MCC as we produce extremely well balanced wine with full flavours and prominent aromas.
