Muffins and Prosecco
2nd February 2023
Freshly baked, fluffy, sweet, delicious – these are all the words that will come to mind later on when we enjoy some divine Muffins, and better yet, we get to pair them with a bottle of Prosecco.
These gorgeous muffins look as good as they taste and they are available for only £1.75 per set of two at your local Tesco’s, as part of their Tesco Finest selection.
The Prosecco – Bortolomiol
“Giuliano left us a great gift, the desire to look forwards always and imagine the future, among the traditions of our hills and with the constant desire to get better” – Bortolomiol Family
This is a story of what can be accomplished when you’ve been given a legacy to guide you into the future, Giuliano Bortolomiol left his winery to his wife Ottavia and their daughters Maria Elena, Elvira, Luisa and Giuliana, who with a “natural” instinct have not only maintained what their father built up but have also taken on new challenges to ensure the revolution does not come to an end.
The Bortolomiol family has a strong united bond, the mother is the soul and linchpin of the winery and the sisters are the beating heart who guide and support the business, achieving new levels of quality, efficiency and effectiveness with an outlook that is always competitive.
“We were born and work in a special territory. Conserving and keeping intact this patrimony and these hills is a responsibility, a daily commitment that guides us in every decision we make.” – Bortolomiol Family
Bortolomiol – Bandarossa Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG Extra Dry – Tasting Notes
Aroma – “An expression of floral notes with blossoming apples and green pears, then enters a display of ripe fruits on the aroma.”
Flavour – “You’re flung forward with a sweet expression, then pulled back with a dryness, it delivers ripe green pears and green apples, with salty sea air and floral notes to round off the experience.”
Silver Medal in the Dessert Category at the Glass of Bubbly Awards 2022
“I want to show everyone that we can make great wine that people will love. The land where we live has something special that we don’t yet understand” – Giuliano Bortolomiol
The Prosecco & Muffin Pairings
We’ve taken some delicious freshly baked muffins to see how scrumptious they can become when paired with an Extra Dry Prosecco DOCG.
Pairing Notes – Hazelnut & Chocolate – “The Sparkling Wine can’t quite figure out where it stands, drawing the hazelnut flavours forward and minimizing the chocolate, injecting soft/ripe green fruits, it is only when the palate starts to close that the chocolate and fluffy muffin characters return in length.”
Pairing Notes – Lemon Curd – “The Sparkling Wine comes through and very much works in favour of the lemon characters, enhancing them to the forefront of the flavour profile, adding a small touch of ripe green fruits if you look hard enough, it also delivers an amazingly long and persistent length of sweet lemon, fluffy muffin and the sweet sugar topping.”
