Prosecco DOC Closes 2024 with Record Results, Looking Forward to 2025
Consorzio Prosecco DOC strengthens its position as a leader in the global sparkling wine industry
2024 was a record-breaking year for Prosecco DOC by all accounts. Bottling figures for the denomination reached an all-time high of 660 million bottles, marking a 7% increase over 2023, with an estimated market value of 3.6 billion euros.
The Veneto-Friuli Venezia Giulia bubbles continue to stand as a pillar of both Italian and global sparkling wine production. Prosecco DOC now represents nearly 25% of Italy’s total DOP (PDO) wine production.
Prosecco DOC Rosé also achieved outstanding results, with approximately 60 million bottles sold over the past year, reflecting a growth of over 20% compared to 2023. This category now makes up around 10% of the total sales, confirming initial predictions.
Looking ahead to 2025, Consorzio Prosecco DOC is committed to upholding the value and production quality of Prosecco DOC, while continuing to meet market demands through careful management of supply policies.
“Despite the challenges faced by the wine sector, 2024 has been a positive year for Consorzio Prosecco DOC. We look ahead to 2025 with confidence and renewed commitment, fully aware that our success relies on the efforts of everyone in the supply chain— from producers to winemakers, bottlers to commercial partners. A sincere thank you goes to each of them for their dedication, which has contributed to these results. The Consortium will continue to protect, promote, and enhance our Denomination, facing future challenges together and increasingly responding to consumer needs, with particular attention to sustainability,” assures Giancarlo Guidolin, President of Consorzio Prosecco DOC.
