Rowton Vineyard
15th April 2026
Rowton Vineyard is a 5-acre site planted just 7 miles west of Shrewsbury in the rolling Shropshire Hills. The vineyard is run by twin sisters, Melissa & Zoe Evans
They pride themselves on crafting honest, characterful wines that showcase their Shropshire terroir. Rowton holds great significance in their family as they have been custodians of the land for 3 generations since their grandfather first came there in 1963.
It’s a busy and richly diversified working farm growing various crops and the grassland is home to their herd of Limousin cattle, who graze the ancient Lime tree avenue leading up to Rowton Castle. They’ve also converted two stone barns on their farm to a homely B&B offering ten rooms and a spacious cellar door area for Rowton Vineyard.
They don’t just embrace being different; they want to be different.
Their 5-acre site has a gentle slope towards the South East, maximising sun exposure and encouraging any frost to roll off and away down the hill. The site also has a unique microclimate as it’s sheltered from the prevailing South Westerly winds by an established tree line acting as a windbreak.
Discover their Sparkling Solaris 2022, which won a Silver Medal in the Herbal Gardens category at the Glass of Bubbly Awards 2025.
Solaris is the main variety planted on their 5-acre vineyard in Shropshire. A short secondary fermentation and minimal time on lees lends itself perfectly to the easy-going nature of this Sparkling Wine. A refined fizz, with notes of green nettle & floral hints, finishing with classic green apple acidity.
Tasting notes: Herbal, full of fresh green herbs and a hint of sandalwood.
