Slice Of Cake Cocktail
29th August 2023
It’s time to cut your cake and instead of eating it straight away, use it to garnish and soak into an original Glass of Bubbly Cocktail.
Dry Sparkling Wine and Cake is a wonderful treat, and rum and cake go together excellently, so the inspiration for this cocktail is self-explanatory, but the results, were phenomenal.
The Sparkling Wine – No.1 Family Estate
No.1 Family Estate was born in 1977 by Adele & Daniel, they chose the name No.1 Family Estate in recognition of the many ‘firsts’ in New Zealand wine they had achieved over the years while working on their first venture, Cellier Le Brun.
They released their very first Cuvée No.1 on Bastille Day in 1999 and in 2012 their No.1 Assemblé was the first wine in New Zealand to be labelled ‘Méthode Marlborough’ in place of Méthode Traditionelle.

Rum – Bullion
Bullion Rum has burst into the drinks world in a golden way, currently offering four flavours in their range: Bullion Gold Original, Bullion Java Banana, Bullion Coconut and their latest product Bullion Passion Fruit.
Distilled in Demerera and blended with all natural flavours and spices sourced from all over the world, their rum is distilled twice at one of the best Guyanese distilleries and then a 3rd time at Hensol Castle Distillery, using pure Welsh water filtered through the mountains of the Brecon Beacons to create their unique and delicious elixirs.
The Java Banana is something truly special, in addition to its blue skin, its smooth texture delivers a surprise to anyone with a sweet tooth, with its vanilla flavours, although blue on the outside, it is pale yellow inside.
Java Banana Rum Tasting Notes – “A divine flavour of sweet vanilla ice cream, ripe bananas and faint spices.”
