Squerryes Estate, Kent

6th May 2015

The 2,500 acres of the Squerryes estate reside in the Kent Downs, an area of outstanding natural beauty. The borders rest on Surrey to the west and Greater London to the north.

The Warde family first moved to the estate in 1731 and have lived there ever since. Now in the 8th generation of the family, the Warde’s continue to run the estate, producing excellent English sparkling wines.

There has been a garden at Squerryes since the 14th century, providing a peaceful backdrop against the house.

The vineyards at Squerryes have a unique combination of rock, soil and microclimate with similarities to the Cote des Blancs region of Champagne. The long cool summers provide the perfect growing conditions for the Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier vines that combine to make our sparkling wine.

They are one of the last vineyards in Europe to harvest our crop and the wine only truly starts to express itself after 30 months of lees ageing.
