We always welcome samples from around the world, though we please ask that you inform us before sending any wines.

For wines arriving to the UK via the EU / Rest of the World:

When sending sample wines for review, awards and tasting events, you are fully responsible for all the below:

• Paying all customs and excise duties and any import or export taxes and VAT due
• Paying any customs handling fees of freight forwarders and parcel courier services
• Export declaration from the originating country
• Import declaration into the UK
• Shipping costs and insurance

  • Important: all parcels must be sent using the Incoterm DDP - Duties & Taxes Paid / Delivered Duties Paid. You must select the option on the form that states Bill Sender / Bill Shipper.

  • On the Air Waybill, select Bill Sender / Bill Shipper. When filling out the shipping label/AWB, choose the option to bill duties, taxes, and brokerage fees to the shipper (you), not the receiver.

  • A Pro Forma Invoice is required, which must include:
  • Incoterm: Specify the correct Incoterm, DDP (Delivery Duty Paid), to explicitly state that the shipper covers all costs, including duties and taxes.
  • Describe items precisely, including quantity (eg, 4 bottles of white sparkling wine)
  • Alcohol by Volume (ABV) percentage of each bottle (eg, 12%)
  • State the Country of Origin.
  • Reason for Export: State why you're sending (eg, Samples for Award Entry Evaluation).
  • Value: You must state a value; this can not be zero, but can be nominal (eg, €1 each bottle)
  • Include the correct commodity code of the wine consignment. (eg, for sparkling wine - 220410) More specific codes, for example, for Champagne, Prosecco, etc, can  be found here: www.trade-tariff.service.gov.uk
  • Include the statement 'No commercial value, Value stated for Customs only, Not for sale purposes.'
  • Include our EORI number: GB236368688000

  • All deliveries must prominently display the statement: 'Commercial samples of negligible value – relief claimed' on the packaging. Additionally, the term 'Commercial sample' should be clearly written on the wine label or sticker using a marker pen.

  • For international shipments, please use a courier service such as UPS or FedEx. Avoid using local postal services, as they may result in delivery delays of several weeks due to complex customs procedures. Please note that we will not accept any courier shipments requiring us to act as the 'importer'. Such requests will be returned to the sender or the respective courier company. Any enquiries from the courier for information will be forwarded on to the sender to reply.
