The Philosopher's Daughter Cocktails

From the morning sun, until the rise of the moon, our mind is stolen by the Philosopher’s Daughter, her name is Kathrine and her beauty is untold, her lips like that of sweet cherries and rose petals, fair and honest, sweet and passionate, her heart is pure, this Cocktail we’re about to make is to honour her journey through life and the love she gifted the world.

The Prosecco – ThinK

ThinK Wine Group is in partnership with an esteemed vineyard nestled in the heart of Treviso, Italy, both their Prosecco and sparkling pink wine are Vegan and organic with reduced sugar and low calories, they use hand-picked Italian grapes to make both their ThinK Prosecco and ThinK Pink from their vegan and certified organic vineyard in Treviso.

Think Prosecco was founded by Katherine Jones when she noticed at a variety of different client and influencer parties that the Prosecco she loved drinking was having a negative effect on her waistline and busy lifestyle, and from this, she found out she was not alone, this led her to embark on an adventure to over 50 vineyards before she found the perfect one.

”I absolutely love drinking bubbles but as someone who is health-conscious, the excess of sugar and calories in every glass was cause for concern. That’s when I knew I wanted to create my own luxury bubbles with none of the less desirable after-effects. I can now freely enjoy a delicious, guilt-free glass of bubbles and so can you…” – Katherine Jones – ThinK Wine Founder

Aroma – “Soft, ripe green fruits, mushy green apples & pears. gooseberry and some freshly cut grass on the aroma.”

Flavour – “Clean, crisp fruity flavours, with green apples, green pears and soft floral notes on the palate.”

The Gin – The Philosopher’s Daughter

“In The Spirit of History”

Warwickshire Gin Company doesn’t just have fine Gin under their belt, they also offer Rum and Vodka, all distilled using a small batch method, in their own distillery in Royal Leamington Spa.

The inspiration behind their spirit collection comes from their desire to capture a moment in history, developing flavours that truly represent the county’s own unique story, bringing their range of hand-crafted flavours to life.

The Philosopher’s Daughter Gin has been crafted to honour the Daughter of one of the most revered Philosopher of the Elizabethan age, her name was Kathrine Dee, in her life, she would have carefully selected botanicals from the ‘Knot Gardens’, which would have typically included rose petals, cherries, apples and rosehip peel.

I reached out to David Blick, the Director of Warwickshire Gin Company to ask him about the creation of this Gin:

What Inspired Warwickshire Gin Company to Create a Gin for the Philosopher’s Daughter?

“The Philosopher’s Daughter was a spirit which we made by accident, a good accident though. We were trying to develop a flavour for our Kingmaker Dry Gin with Traditional English flavours. However, the rosehip and rose petals added to apple and cherry made the spirit a very light and delicate gin, not one you would associate with the bravado of the Kingmaker (16th Earl of Warwick). This spirit became the first, and only one in our range where the story came after the flavour design. So to honour the Daughter of one of the most revered alchemists of the Elizabethan age, John Dee. We have included rosehip peel, rose petals, apple and cherries to complement the flavours that would have been carefully selected from a Knot Gardens of the Elizabethan age.” – David Blick

Tasting Notes – “Smooth and delicate, very well balanced with notes of ruby rose petal lips, plum cherries, ripe apples and rosehip peel.”
