The Range of Champagne Gimonnet
3rd April 2014
Over the last 3 generations, Champagne Gimonnet have refined the Gimonnet style, creating a marriage of expressions between the Chardonnay grape and the unique terroir of their wonderful Cuis Premier Cru, Cramant and Chouilly Grand Cru vineyards.
Millésime de Collection, Special Club 2002
The 2002 is notable for its rich, creamy textured, remarkable depth and super-finessed texture. The 2002 is 54% Cramant and 31% Chouilly (both Grand Crus), along with 15% Cuis (Premier Cru), all old vines. This bottle was disgorged March 30, 2011. Dosage is 6 grams per litre.
Extra-Brut Oenophile 2005, 1er Cru non dosée
The vintage cuvees are tasted each year while maturing on lees and the cuvee showing perfect natural balance receives no dosage, and this is the Oenophile cuvee. The Oenophile 2005 is produced from grapes sourced mainly from Cramant and Chouilly Grand Cru vineyards, with added Oger GC grapes for power and Cuis 1er Cru grapes for freshness. Pale golden in colour with delicate citrus and almond scents.
Cuvée Special Club 2005
With 87% of the Special Club 2005 grapes sourced from two of Gimonnet’s Grand Cru vineyards, this is a beautifully balanced cuvee with great depth, structure and minerality. Delicate floral aromatics and nutty notes on the palate.
Fleuron 2006 Brut 1er Cru
Fleuron is the best representation of the vintage. Nearly half of the blend is from Chouilly Grand Cru vineyard, which gives the unique Fleuron richness of style. Broad and generous on the palate from extended time on lees with notes of pear, peach, green apples and some underlying nutty notes
Brut Gastronome 2008
The 2008 vintage is the first to include all five of the different Gimonnet terroirs of the Côte des Blancs, with the largest proportion of grapes sourced from Chouilly Grand Cru and Cuis 1er Cru. A fine mousse with floral and perfumed notes, some spice and soft fruit flavours on the palate.
Cuis 1er Cru Brut NV
Beautifully pure, floral nose. On the palate a racy, energetic feel with nuances of stone fruit, acacia, brioche and underlying minerality which has a long, crisp, slighty nutty finish.
Cuvée Rosé de Blancs 1er Cru Brut NV
This is the first Rose from Champagne Pierre Gimonnet which is produced using 12% of Pinot Noir from Bouzy; the remaining 88% is a blend of Chardonnay grapes from 4 Grand Cru and 1 Premier Cru vineyards. Pale salmon pink with a very fine mousse. Delicate red berry flavours with a core of minerality, a finely-textured palate and a backbone of crisp acidity.
