The Estate Deli & Cellar Door at Squerryes Vineyard in Westerham, Kent has an amazing selection of sweet and savoury delights along with a fabulous selection of cheese, meats, wines and gifts just perfect for Christmas.
‘The Deli & Cellar Door is open from Wednesday this week, including until 1pm on Christmas Eve, despite local road works and the closure of Westerham Hill. Squerryes can still be reached via Beggars Lane in Westerham.
The Deli also has a well-stocked cheese counter and today announced which of its cheeses are proving the most popular this Christmas.
Top 10 cheeses 2023
Baron Bigod (brie style, silky, mushroomy, vegetal notes)
Truffle Baron Bigod (brie-style, finest black truffles, melt in the mouth)
Pitch Fork Cheddar (full bodied, dense and nutty character)
Kentish Blue (strong, spicy, blue)
Isle of Mull Cheddar (strong Scottish cheese, boozy & deeply savoury)
Dorstone Goat cheese (light, fluffy with citrussy flavour goat’s cheese)
Cornish Yarg (nettle-wrapped cheese, lemon & yoghurt notes)
Colston Shropshire Blue (creamy, savoury, slightly peppery flavour)
St James (deep, malty and punchy ewe cheese)
Winterdale Shaw ( locally made on the North Downs, rich, creamy & oak smoked)
Any of these cheeses will pair well with Squerryes Blanc des Blancs Vintage Sparkling Wine, their Vintage Brut 2019 won a Silver Medal in the Zesty & Zingy Category at the Glass of Bubbly Awards 2023 with the judges giving the following tasting notes: Toast aromas with a hint of cream. Zesty flavours of fresh citrus, lemon and lime zest with notes of brioche and apples.
Don’t forget to also get some Squerryes Vintage Rosé 2020 which won the Trophy for the First Date Category, with the judges giving the following tasting notes: Very, very pale peach in colour. Crushed red rose petals, apple skins, white cherry and white peach aromas with a light yeast accent. Delicate red berries flavours with a hint of peaches and cream.
The Deli & Cellar Door will be open for late night shopping on Thursday 21st December 2023: The theme on Thursday is Cheese for your Christmas table and shoppers can enjoy cheese samples and ask advice from the Deli team.
