Light & Fruity – Fitz Sparkling Wine – Fitz Pink – England

A light and easy to drink fruity wine.

England’s first pink Charmat method sparkling wine is light bodied and dry. A refreshing and vibrant red berry fruit flavour sparkling wine which is very easy to drink.

Meditation  – Motzenbäcker – Rosé Brut – Germany

An addictive wine for those special relaxing times. This wine will express itself more and more the longer it is opened and the longer it stays in your glass.

With no added sugar this wine is full bodied, well balanced, very elegant and structured. It pairs well with fish or seafood and light meat dishes.

Gastronomic – Fox & Fox – Midnight Dark Dry Rose Brut 2011 – England

A complex wine with enough body to accompany most popular main dishes.

A limited edition release of only 500-700 bottles in any one year, Midnight delivers an abundance of exquisite ripe cherry and berry flavours, spiced with very subtle hints of cinnamon and clove. This is a rich, rounded and rewarding fizz at the sweeter end of the Brut spectrum and a perfect gastronomic sparkling wine.

Vintage – Arunda – Cuvèe Marianna- Italy

Highly complex aromas and a lengthy taste explosion of many layers.

Aromas of apricot, peach, banana and light notes of vanilla. This creamy sparkling wine pairs well with seabass, smoked fish, Italian antipasti. “Cuveè Marianna is dedicated for a homage to my wife, she is responsible to create and give the cuvée the last touch.”

Fireworks – Vina Kobal – Teranova Penina Tera – Slovenia

An intense and powerful wine that really bursts with flavours in the mouth.

This red sparkling wine is dark cherry in colour with fruity flavours of ripe raspberries, strawberries, blueberries and blackberries followed by a burst of spice and herbs.

Classic & Elegant – Champagne Frerejean Frères – Cuvée des Hussards 2012 Premier Cru – France

This will likely be a stylish wine showing balance with a refined quality.

The Cuvée des Hussards is named after a regiment of the Napoleonian army. The Hussards of Napoleon’s army created the tradition of sabrage, the opening of a Champagne bottle with a sabre in commemoration of receiving the ‘weapon of honour’, a ceremony awarded for their service or assistance to France.

The nose is expressive, with notes of citrus fruits, white flowers and summer fruits. On the palate it is silky, generous, developing into layers of white fruits and a beautiful minerality on the finish. Very versatile, with notes of citrus and balanced acidity, it will be perfect from the aperitif to the dessert.

Hint of Spice – Vina Štoka – Prima Teran Sparkling – Slovenia

This wine will offer a bit of a kick with a spicy tone.

This red sparkling wine has a dry red berry fruit flavour with a spicy tone.

Zesty & Zingy – Radgonske Gorice – Zlata Radgonska Penina Selection Brut 2016 – Slovenia

A wine that will likely be citrus flavoured with a definite zing to it.

The aroma and taste are stunning with citrus fruity notes and gentle memories of the spring flowers meadow. Behind them, characteristic but gentle ripening notes of bread and zesty lemon.

Nothing too complex and not necessarily needs to pair with exact foods.

Bright salmon colour, delicate fragrance of delicious red berries with a soft and velvety fruity finish. Pairs well with fish, seafood, fish, canapés and mild soft cheeses.

When you taste this wine you will imagine yourself standing on the beach and tasting those tiny sea drops in the air.

Aromas of peach blossom, honey and hazelnuts and a fresh and mineral flavour with good persistence. Pairs well with meat or fish carpaccio, smoked salmon and seafood.

Summer Days – Raimes – Vintage Rose – England

Refreshing and crisp tasting, ideal for time spent in the sun / shade.

Bright with strawberry on the nose and vibrant summer fruits on the palate, a fine soft mousse and delicate colour.

Oaky & Toasty –  Ferrari Trento – Ferrari Perlé 2013 – Italy

Will likely have been aged in oak barrels and have a toasty flavour.

An intense bouquet with hints of almond blossom and reinette apples; slightly spicy and with a hint of bread crust. A light fruity note of ripe apples, pleasant hints of yeast and sweet almonds.

Spring Fling – Bolney Wine Estate – Cuvée Rosé – England

Floral, blossom aromas and flavour that immediately hits the spot.

On the nose a touch of yeast with floral notes, raspberry and wild strawberry. Flavours of light cherry, and toasty brioche.

Creamy – F.lli Pisoni – TrentoDoc Pisoni Brut Millesimato – Italy

Soft rounded wine that gives buttery / creamy experience of aromas and taste.

With hints of fruit that flow alternated with floral sensations and a creamy taste.

Forget Me Not – Lumiere – Kakitsubata – Japan

A unique taste. There’s something different about this wine, making it stand out.

A traditional-style sparkling wine made from Koshu grapes. This wine has aromas of apple nectar and grapefruit with elegant green tea and black tea.

Winter Warmer – Vinarstvo Rebula – Br’stovska Penina Teran – Slovenia

Perfect on a winter’s evening sat in front of the fire, likely to be a fuller flavoured wine.

This sparkling wine is dry and fresh, while its unique colour, delicate and fruity bouquet, elegance and harmony are the attributes that make it even more special.

Dessert – Familia Schroeder – Deseado Rosé – Argentina

A stand out sweeter tasting wine that will pair well with most dessert dishes.

This attractive pink sparkling wine has complex aromas of red fruits, quince and flowers. The palate is sweet, fruity, good acidity and good volume. A perfect example of a sweeter sparkling wine.

Michael Edwards Award – Tenuta Mazzolino – Cruasé Oltrepò Pavese Pinot Nero Rosé – Italy

A wine that stands out most for our honorary judge.

Light salmon pink with coppery nuances, this sparkling wine is complex and vinous, highlighting the small red fruits of Pinot Noir and the notes of pain grillé and pastry brought by the long stay on the yeast. On the palate, it has a fine and silky effervescence, enlivened by the right acidity and a light savoury vein well fused with the aromas of small red fruits characteristic of Pinot Noir.

Sustainability Award by Slow Food – Motzenbäcker – Germany

The long and passionate know-how of the family Menger-Krug can be seen in their blends. Biodiversity and sustainability is a very important aspect of their viticulture.

The World’s Finest Glass of Bubbly 2019 – Champagne Roger Brun – Reserve Familiale 2004 – France

This Champagne has aromas of brioche and toast, with dried apricots, floral hints and candied lemon. On the palate, it is complex, rich and toasty with honeycomb, soft citrus, honey, apricot and so much more in flavours. This is a superb example of a Grower Champagne.
