Tulbagh Valley Wine Route
31st August 2016
Tulbagh Valley, a charming South African historical town, 80 miles from Cape Town, offers beauty, heritage, tranquility and of course, wine. Set against beautiful scenery and majestic mountain ranges, visitors can choose from a wide range of accommodation, browse and buy handcrafted foods, jewellery and gifts, admire art, go to the theatre, enjoy seasonal events, or go bird watching, horse riding, hiking, mountain biking, fishing or on scenic drives.
Tulbagh’s Wine Route features both old and new estates, including those that have been home to generations of the same family and are institutions in the local industry and market and those with architecturally designed state of the art new cellars belonging to outside investors. Visitors also have the opportunity to sample the wares of micro-producers and boutique wineries. A notable local producer of bubbly is Twee Jonge Gezellen, who make Krone sparkling wines using the Méthode Cap Classique.
