Valentine’s Day Fizz
8th February 2022
February 14th, the day to celebrate love by sharing a great bottle of fizz with your special someone.
When choosing a bottle of bubbly for the two of you to enjoy, why not try something different, maybe something from Austria or Italy, Spain or SLOVEnia, the choice is yours, don’t limit yourself from what you find in your local supermarket, look outside the box and find that perfect bottle, fit for Valentines Day.
The origins of Valentine’s Day is believed to have come from the Roman festival of Lupercalia, this festival celebrated the coming of spring in mid-February along with an interesting way of paring men and women together by using a random lottery system. At the end of the 5th century, Lupercalia was replaced with Valentine’s Day by Pope Gelasius I of the Catholic Church.
The first Valentine’s Day cards were printed in the late 1700s and the first commercialised Valentine’s Day was in the United States, in the mid-1800s.
I’ve complied 7 bottles of Sparkling Wine, which all won Silver Medals in the First Date Category. Take a look at the bottles and most importantly the tasting notes, see if anything stands out to you and sounds nice.
First Date
The perfect wine to accompany that first date. Nothing too complex and not necessarily a wine that needs to pair with exact foods.
Although it might not be your first date or you’re second, any bottle from this category will be perfect to enjoy over a nicely cooked or even a hand delivered meal, plus they’ll be perfect to include in some Fizzy Cocktails if you want some inspiration, check out 3 Easy to Make Cocktails For Valentine’s Day
