Viña Undurraga Relaunches Premium Sparkling Wines
29th September 2016
Chilean producer Viña Undurraga has relaunched its premium Estate Sparkling Underraga Brut Royal and Estate Sparkling Rose Royal to make them more easily distinguishable their entry-level counterparts. They are due to appear on the shelves in November.
The Royal range originally launched in 2014, but despite success at the 2013 Sommelier Wine Awards, attracted only modest sales. The producer has responded to this by changing the look of the bottles and signing up with distributor Euro Wines in the hope of success in the off-trade and independent markets.
The Brut has an acidic taste, with notes of citrus, currant and light gooseberry and a hint of pear. The Rosé has a fresh taste, with hints of sappy greenness under soft red cherry fruit. They will retail at around £10 a bottle, also marking the difference between them and the producer’s entry-level bubblies.
