A most impressive range of Cava that takes big strides forwards of quality as you taste through their range. You are impressed from the first to the last with the finer vintage range really bellowing out some amazing flavours to rival any quality traditional method vintage. Here we are being shown what qualities the Cava region really holds.” Christopher Walkey, Founder of Glass of Bubbly

My second visit to Codorniu and this time with a bit more time on my hands and what I prefer also, a smaller group of journalists – As any keen wine writer will know, it is very hard if there are too many of you to not only ask the questions and take the notes you require, but also grab those all important photos without someone else in the way / in the reflection / having taken a slice of the food and ruined the plate etc!! It was a fine day chez Codorniu and from the moment the beaming smile of Bruno Colomer Marti greeted us as we arrived, positive notes were being taken and fine photos being taken.

Codorniu is probably one of the UK’s most recognisable Cava labels being readily available in many supermarkets, wine merchants and bars across most major towns and cities. It’s well known branding for the Anna de Codorniu range makes it a favourite choice of many. They are very traditional and have a great history of making fine wines, yet innovation and moving forward with the times to include eye catching branding and engaging website, especially with their Anna de Codorniu, makes them perfectly place to maintain and grow their sales in the UK. Customising your own branding for bottles, Codorniu ice pops and more for me make the brand really stand out even up against the money ploughed into pushing Prosecco…

Codorniu is located 30 minutes from Barcelona in Sant Sadurní d’Anoia so ideal for anyone visiting the Catalonia region. It owns one of the most impressive wineries of the region and also holds both indoor and outdoor museums for visitors to both be educated and also entertained with tastings and tours. The location is ideal for weddings and every other special event you may be celebrating and the website makes for easy bookings for such occasions which it caters for.

Codorníu is synonymous to the history of a family of winegrowers which goes back to the XVI century. It is the oldest family business in Spain and one of the oldest in the world. It now has 450 years of history behind it.

If you are in the wine business then you can also enjoy a very private tasting with the Codorniu team and if you are lucky you will also get to speak to Bruno the head winemaker. Here you will be given a great insight into the Codorniu brand and how their wines are developing. What amazed me with Codornui is that even though you start with the more popular and let us say mass produced labels they are in fact of very good and refreshing quality and as you scale up the ladder of cuvées you are discovering more and more delightful flavours… There are around 30 different sparkling wine labels to discover with Codorniu so for any person whose preference is fizz then you have ample choice and much to explore.
