Drinks For Easter

Why Do We Eat Chocolate on Easter?

Easter Eggs have a much more interesting story than you might think – when you give someone an Easter Egg you are giving them ‘new life’, the Easter Egg is a representation of new life and the reason your Easter Eggs are hollow is to represent the empty tomb of Jesus because after he was resurrected, he didn’t really need it anymore.

Easter Sunday is approaching and to celebrate this day, why not select a fine array of drinks to enjoy, from bubbly to chocolate liqueurs.

Chocolate Egg Liqueur

Fitz – Pink

Rulers Breed Rebels

The Sparkling Wine Made in England That Crowned Its Own Creation.

Fitz has a fascinating origin story to tell, which kept me wanting to know more the longer I kept reading.

With the ever growing English Sparkling Wine Industry, Fitz wanted to enter the industry by trying something different, when Fitz first started every English Sparkling Wine was made using the Traditional Method, but Fitz didn’t want to make their Sparkling Wines that way, they wanted to create a different flavour, they wanted to give England and the rest of the world a different tasting English Sparkling Wine.

Fitz didn’t want the classic Champagne flavours of, toast, brioche, biscuit and yellow stone fruits that come with the traditional method, they wanted something different, so Fitz produces their Sparkling Wines by using the Charmat Method of secondary fermentation (mostly used by the Italians & Germans), this helps make their Sparkling Wines fruity-driven and easy to drink.

Lumiere – Kakitsubata

Lumière is a family-owned winery which has been in operation for over 138 years, being first established in 1885, they are located in Yamanashi, around 110 km west of Tokyo.

The Yamanashi Prefecture is a famous and historical wine producing region in Japan, surrounded by mountains and rivers, gifting wonderful views for those working out in the vineyards.

All of Lumière’s grapes are personally hand-picked, helping to ensure that only the finest grapes are used, sorting and gently moving them from the vine to their determined destination.

One of the grape varieties they plant are Koshu Grapes, which are pink-skinned and are one of the most popular varieties planted in Japan, their story dates back to around 1,000 years ago, with them travelling via the Silk Road from the Caucasus, across Central Asia, they then went to China and finally ended up in Japan.

“Traditional Sparkling KAKITSUBATA is made from the KOSHU grape, mainly harvested in our own vineyards just in front of the ancient garden pond with flowers. KAKITSUBATA is the flower name, which means Japanese Iris.” – Lumière
