Mayfield Midnight Brut 2011 is Perfect for Christmas

Mayfield Midnight Brut 2011 is Perfect for Christmas

By Glass of Bubbly / 15th December 2015

Mayfield Midnight Brut 2011, Dark, Dry Rosé is the first English sparkling wine specifically created to suit Winter foods and is perfect with mince pies and Christmas puddings. The wine is  almost garnet in colour, with plenty of red-fruit flavours. There’s a lovely fine mousse and its flavour pairs well with festive food such as mince pies, Christmas pudding and red fruit dishes such as strawberries macerated in lime juice and basil. It also goes really well with a roast or with fresh creamy cheeses like Delice de Bourgone. A small portion of the wine was aged in old oak before blending. This too has added depth and roundness to the wine. The wine was on lees for 36 months before disgorging. www.sussexvineyards.com
