Quintas de Melgaço

Quintas de Melgaço is a producer focused on Alvarinho wine in Portugal’s northernmost wine region, often showcasing the history and identity of the Melgaço area through its tours. Founded in 1994, it is a sustainable cooperative of over 530 local families specialising in high-quality Alvarinho. The company, majorly held by the Melgaço Municipality, offers wine tourism, tasting experiences, and produces award-winning wines.

Velha Reserva Bruto

Made from 100% Alvarinho grapes. This high-quality, long-aged (minimum 36 months) sparkling wine offers intense tropical notes and high acidity.

Ideal with rich seafood, fatty fish, or young cheeses like Manchego and Parmesan.

Tasting notes: Deep golden hue. Yellow peaches and oranges with buttered toast on the nose. Ginger nuts and dried apricots. Delicious everlasting finish, mouth filling with complex layers of brioche and toast overlaid with honey, caramel and double cream. Beautiful line of acidity overlaying the fruit.

Super Reserva Bruto

Made from 100% Alvarinho, it is aged for at least 24 months, offering a complex, citrine-colored profile with notes of tropical fruit, citrus, toast, and a fine, persistent mousse.

Excellent as an aperitif, or with seafood, poultry, and roasted suckling pig.

Tasting notes: Fresh and elegant with notes of nuts, cream, honey and vanilla.

Super Reserva Rose

Made using the traditional method, a Super Reserve is aged in the bottle for at least 24 months. Clear appearance, it presents soft notes of wild red fruits with fine bubbles.

Tasting notes: Red berries and red fruit with crushed peppercorns, spice and floral notes.
