Les Cordeliers French Sparkling Wine
4th April 2016
The Cordeliers name comes from the original occupants of the site, Franciscan monks who observed the monastic rule of St. Francis of Assisi. They earned the nickname ‘Les Cordeliers’ during the 7th Crusade, on account of their traditional dress of a large coarse cloak fastened with a cord belt.
The winery is located in the historic medieval town of Saint-Emilion in south-western France, just 30 miles from Bordeaux. Saint-Émilion is one of the principal red wine areas of Bordeaux, as well as sparkling Crémant de Bordeaux.
Now a listed Historical Monument and UNESCO World Heritage site, Les Cordeliers cloister is one of Saint-Emilion’s most popular tourist attractions. This perfectly preserved example of late Romanesque architecture is one of the medieval village’s most picturesque locations. It’s a lovely town to visit and you can also see the Les Cordeliers winery.
Vintage Range
Les Cordeliers develop and market sparkling vintage wines. Available in white and rosé, brut or demi-sec, each bubbly ideally accompanies every occasion, from an apéritif to pairing with dessert, fish or cheeses.
From the prestigious Bordeaux grape varieties, Les Cordeliers can be appreciated at any time of day or night.
