In this feature we speak with Stefano Tucci, an amazing Winemaker from Piedmont, Italy. Let’s discover a little about his time in the Wine Industry.

Tell Us About Yourself

“My name is Stefano and after graduating in History at the University of Milano I decided to change my life moving to the old farmhouse of my grandparents in Piedmont to start making wine. During these years I also completed the Sommelier Diploma and I worked for Paolo Massobrio, a very famous enogastronomic journalist in Italy. My winery is little but very old and I decided to produce around 5,000 bottles of wine looking at quality and not quantity: my approach is also different than other wineries because I change the winemaking technique every vintage, to have a different story to tell every year.”

How Did You Become Involved In The Wine Industry?

“I started from the old winery of my grandparents and, after a full renovation of the cellar, I started making wine using concrete, oak and amphora.”

As A Winemaker, What Has Been Your Hardest Obstacle To Overcome In Producing Wine?

“The hardest obstacle to overcome wasn’t a technical problem but a “narrative” one: in the wine world it is difficult to make your own “name” and make your brand grow, especially if you are a very little winery.”

How Do You Determine When Your Wine Is Ready To Drink?

“In my opinion, you understand it when flavors start shining when you find finesse and power in it.”

What Part Of The Wine Making Process Do You Enjoy The Most?

“The harvest and the alcoholic fermentation, the first step to transform the grape must into our beloved wine.”
