28th July 2025
Simpsons Wine Estate, founded by Ruth and Charles Simpson, is a highly-regarded English winery situated in Barham, in the North Downs Area of Outstanding Beauty, in the Elham Valley, near Canterbury, Kent.
The estate has 30 hectares (approximately 90 acres) of vineyards planted with Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier. They focus on producing both still and sparkling wines and are known for their commitment to provenance, using estate-grown grapes and a state-of-the-art winery.
Simpsons offers vineyard and winery tours, tastings, and other events at their elegant Glass House Tasting Room. They even have a helter-skelter slide for a fun winery experience.
On Friday evenings across the summer months, enjoy a Sunset Session Evening Tour and Tasting Experience, which begin swith a short walk to the idyllic and iconic Roman Road Vineyard, where you will learn about how the vines are tended to and the grapes are harvested, whilst enjoying a glass of one of their sumptuous sparkling wines (Great British weather permitting!).
Upon your return to the state-of-the-art winery, you will be guided through the art of their still and sparkling winemaking, before ascending to their Glass House Tasting Room, where you will enjoy a tasting of their award-winning wines. You will also enjoy a delectable platter of locally-sourced cheese and charcuterie to pair wonderfully with the wines.
The evening will finish with a flourish with a trip down their ‘Fruit Chute’ helter-skelter slide – a fun and memorable way to round off your experience!
