Prosecco and Pizza from Dr. Oetker Ombre Prosecco DOC

We have an attractive choice of Prosecco and Pizza, with the pairing of both being enjoyed all over the world, but with the magnitude of options, it leaves us in a wonderful position, we’re constantly experimenting with combinations of different Prosecco labels and different Pizza makers, from different sugar levels, regions of production and grape combinations, to different toppings, baking time, and crust thickness, it’s an incredible world to explore.

The combination of Prosecco and Pizza is a classic, both originate from the divine country of Italy, and both have the necessary components to pair together, no matter if you’re enjoying a greasy pepperoni pizza or a healthier veggie mix.

In this feature, we explore the veggie mix and the meat-free chicken-style pizza from Dr. Oetker, with their ‘The Good Baker‘ range. These Good Baker pizzas are generous on toppings and wholesome in character, in a moment we’ll see how they unite or clash with a Glass of Bubbly, but first, let’s discover a little about our Prosecco labels.

The Prosecco – Ombre

A new label for myself, I was introduced to them for the first time by Neil Phillips, the brand ambassador for Prosecco DOC at the Glass of Bubbly Show 2023, which was held at the Sheraton Grand London Park Lane, a very eye-catching artistic label, I got to quickly taste their DOC label on the day, but was fortunately also able to enjoy a relaxed glass at home along with their DOC Rosé label.

“The world of OMBRE embodies everything that is spontaneous and natural. Each glass tells the story of moments in which one can enjoy relaxing, authentic and decidedly less hectic instants of life. OMBRE is the wine recommended to those who are looking for a naturally organic lifestyle.” – Ombre Prosecco

Ombre Prosecco DOC Rosé – Tasting Notes

Aroma – “Strawberry and raspberries with subtle peaches covered in cream.”
Flavour – “Fizzy strawberries and raspberries, with peaches, apricot, hints of passion fruit and star fruit.”

Ombre Prosecco DOC – Tasting Notes

Aroma – “Green pears, green apples, hints of freshly grown garden herbs, delicate in character.”
Flavour – “Greenery all around from the apples and pears on the tree, the herbs grown in the garden, to hints of brambles and freshly cut grass.”

The Prosecco and Pizza Pairings

Prosecco DOC Rosé & Meat-Free Chicken Style Pizza Pairing – “The rosé delves deep and digs out the hidden spicy characters within, drawing them into the foreground with notes of red peppers and the meat-free style chicken and a soft doughy pizza base, the finished taste has a little spicy tingle in the back of the throat.”

Prosecco DOC & Veggie Mix Pizza Pairing – “The pairing cleanses the palate with refreshing delicate green characters, but quickly after the pizzas flavours rush back into play with enriched sweetened characters, the Prosecco highlights the tomato sauce, the yellow peppers and red onions, on the bed of dough.”
